Dr. Ahmed Fawzy and his spouse participated in the King Cheops exhibition entitled "The Horizon of Cheops", which was held in Old Montreal, and which sheds light on the life of King Khufu and the story of building the Great Pyramid, as well as funerary and religious practices, through the use of VAR technology. The exhibition was attended by many visitors, which also included a shop selling souvenirs about ancient Egypt.
At the kind invitation of the Society for the Study of Egyptian Antiquities - Montreal Chapter, Dr. Ahmed Fawzy attended a virtual event entitled "The First Indications of the Spread of the Cult of Osiris during the Old Kingdom", in French. Mr. Jean-Baptiste Poussard, a doctoral student at the University of Montpellier 3, focused on the geographical and societal spread of the worship of Osiris, as well as on the role(s) of the god and his legend that was then appearing in the Old Kingdom.
At the kind invitation of Mrs. Alia Mohamed, President of the Public Service Association for Integration and Immigration in Montreal, and in the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Fakhry - Consul General of Egypt in Montreal, Dr. Ahmed Fawzy, Cultural Attaché and BCAC's Director attended a gathering day with Egyptian and Arab families in Montreal.
Within the framework of the cultural and tourism promotion of Egypt in Canada, BCAC organized a symposium via video conference technology entitled “Exploring the Beauty of Muhammad Ali Mosque,” in which an elite group of members of the Egyptian community and the Canadian community participated in various provinces of Canada and was moderated by Dr. Ahmed Fawzy, the Egyptian Cultural Attaché and BCAC's Director. During which, Dr. Amr Atef, a tourism expert and specialist in Egyptian heritage, spoke in English about the Muhammad Ali Mosque, which is sometimes called the Alabaster or Alabaster Mosque due to the frequent use of this type of marble in covering its walls. During the symposium, an open dialogue was conducted in which members of the Egyptian community and the Canadian community participated, including many discussions and questions about the topic of the lecture, to which Dr. Amr Atef responded.
BCAC held a virtual meeting with the Egyptian scholars studying in Canada to answer their inquiries regarding their studies and travel updates, and to overcome any difficulties they might encounter. At the end of the meeting, BCAC wished all scholars success, stressing the importance of their role as ambassadors of Egypt to Canada. The scholars also praised the efforts made by BCAC and the Cultural Relations and Missions Sector for continuously communicating with them and working to overcome any difficulties they might face.
In line with the directives of Professor Dr. Sherif Saleh, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector, to promote the “Study in Egypt” initiative, which aims to encourage foreign students to study in Egypt to benefit from the distinguished educational resources in the Arab Republic of Egypt, BCAC held the first educational exhibition via video conference to promote the “Study in Egypt” initiative, in the presence of Mrs. Phoebe Wasfi - Principal of the Philopateer School - which is one of the best schools in the Canadian province of Ontario, in addition to the distinguished colleagues in the International Students' Administration and the Egyptian Cultural centre for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers, as well as BCAC's members. Five of the best Egyptian universities participated in the exhibition, namely Ain Shams University, Alexandria University, Misr International University, October University for Modern Sciences and Arts, and the Egyptian Chinese University, with the aim of introducing Philopateer School students and their parents to the educational systems that suit their aspirations, especially in the fields of medicine, dentistry, physical therapy and pharmacy. The students showed great interest in the various study programs presented by university representatives, and asked many questions about how to apply, the required procedures, and tuition fees.
